I have tried to rip it on various linux boxes, with different flavors of cd drives, with no luck. I have had partial success on a windoze box, but couldn't successfully get all the tracks correctly. Huge pain!
From Dean
About "Just Push Play," I tried ripping that CD on at least 5 different cd drives, 2 HP CDR/CDRW's (different models), 2 diff speed Memorex's, and a Kenwood 72x. Only the Kenwood under windoze got most of the tracks.

RedHat 7.1, Pioneer CD-ROM ATAPI Model DR-A12X 0100, Grip 2.95, ide-cdrom version 4.59
Comments: Got 2/3 through track #1 and then slowed and stopped ripping. Couldn't even start track #2.
Redhat 7.0, Hewlett-Packard CD-Writer Plus 9100, Grip 2.95, ide-scsi version 0.9
Comments: Got 1/2 through track #1 and it stopped and got error messages such as: scsi_read error: sector=10111 length=1 retry=4, Sense key: 3 ASC: 2 ASCQ: 0, Transport error: Medium reading data from medium, System error: Input/output error
Redhat 7.1, ATAPI CD-ROM DRIVE 50X MAXIMUM (ACER), cdparanoia 9.7 (just "cdparanoia -B"), ide-cdrom version 4.59
Comments: Hangs half way through track #1 and won't continue.
Redhat 7.1, MATSHITA DVD-ROM SR-8583, cdparanoia 9.7 (just "cdparanoia -B"), ide-cdrom version 4.59
Comments: Track #2 had 2 unreported read errors, but appeared to rip fine.
Windows ME, Kenwood UCR-421, Musicmatch Jukebox Basic 7.0, Microsoft Driver 6/8/2000
Comments: Ripped without incident, but the track "Just Push Play" encoded with a very annoying skipping sounding behavior.
From Ryan
Funny, I ripped mine just fine. If it matters, I used my HP CD Writer and Nero to do it. Maybe those two combined ignored the errors and just ripped like they are supposed to.

I have ripped "Just Push Play" on my Mac. It was on my new G4 Tower running OS 10.

This CD was bought from a retail chain store in a mall in central NJ. Plays fine on all my standard audio equipment and DVD player. I was able to rip and encode just fine on a PowerMac 6500 with stock apple CD drive and iTunes 2. I'll try ripping with my Teac CD-R and other software and see if it makes a difference.

Playing: Win 2000. Yes it plays on my machine and my friends. Have not tried DVD, yes it works in my car.
Copying: Yes it is on my machine. I used Windows Media 7.1 "Copy music" feature. No problems.

My copy, purchased at a record store in NY, plays fine on my Win2k workstation. Plays fine with media player 7, in digital mode (in this mode audio is pulled off the cd by the same mechanism as CD rippers).

I had a couple of CDs on the list, Collective Soul: 7even Year Itch and Aerosmith: Just Push Play, so I gave them a try. I had no problem playing, ripping or burning either one of them. I've had both since they first came out, so there may have been an additional, copy protected, production run after I purchased my copies.
If it matters I running Win2k Pro. I played them using Windows Media Player 7. They were ripped and burned using Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum with the 5.02b patch installed. They were played and ripped using both a Compaq LTN4865 and Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-103 and burned on the Pioneer.

I have recorded mine several times. I have a Dell computer and Roxio 5 cd burner software. Also, the version of "Just Push Play" that I have is a chain (Best Buy) exclusive that came with a bonus track on it, so I don't know if they had the technology on it or not.
